Ellen Foley sings "We Belong To The Night" and "Thunder And Rain" live in radio studio The Robert Klein Hour was a one-hour syndicated radio show, sent out to subscribing radio stations across the US. The show was hosted by actor and comedian Robert Klein, and was taped in front of a live audience. Most episodes had two major interview guests and a third guest who performed a short live music segment. Episode #24 features an interview with William Shatner and Persis Khambatta (both promoting Star Trek); a 20-minute interview with Ian Hunter and Ellen Foley; and a two-song live performance by Ellen Foley. Ellen was backed by her regular live band for this performance. This is the only "officially" available live recording of them. Radio stations were supposed to return or destroy the LPs after broadcast, but many stations archived them instead - and these copies have since become collectors items! |

Ellen Foley sings "What's A Matter Baby" live with the Rick Derringer Band Songs (ref A): RICK DERRINGER: I Play Guitar / Guitars and Women / On My Way Up / Party at the Hotel / Tobacco Road / Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo / TODD RUNDGREN: Love In Action / ELLEN FOLEY: What's A Matter Baby / ENTIRE CAST: Hang On Sloopy This one-hour live radio show presented a charity concert for Rick Derringer at the Palladium in New York on 13 Sep 1981, to help raise money to replace $100,000 worth of stolen gear. It featured Rick Derringer and his band, plus guests Todd Rundgren, Ian Hunter, Hall and Oates, Dr. John, Ellen Foley, Southside Johnny, and Edgar Winter. Ellen also sang backing vocals for some of the other artists. A 1998 re-airing of the show omitted Ellen's track in favour of other artists. |

Sadly, Ellen's solo performance was also omitted when the show was released by King Biscuit Records in 1998, credited to Rick Derringer & Friends. Ian Hunter's "Just Another Night" and "All The Young Dudes" were added though, both with Ellen on backing vocals.
