Luther Grosvenor discography -
RATTLESNAKE GUITAR

In 1995, Luther was invited by Bob Laul of Viceroy Records to contribute two songs for a Peter Green tribute album called "Rattlesnake Guitar - The Music Of Peter Green". The album contained many of the worlds class guitarists and quite rightly Luther was amongst them.

The album was renamed "Peter Green Songbook" in Europe, and an audiophile edition was issued in USA in 2003 entitled "Man Of The World - Reflections On Peter Green".

Accompanied by his old friends Mike Kellie (drums), Jess Roden (vocals) and Ariel Bender Band members Davey Moore (keyboards) and Steve Dolan (bass), Luther recorded "Merry Go Round" and "Crying Won't Bring You Back" for this 1995 tribute album. The UK and USA editions are pictured left.

For the European market, excluding UK, Viceroy licenced the tribute album to Semaphore, who gave it a new cover and a new title. They also re-arranged the tracklisting and issued the album on two CDs, sold separately. Both of Luther's contributions ended up on the CD labelled "Peter Green Songbook. A tribute to his work in two volumes - First Part".

In 2003, re-issue specialist Audio Fidelity released the album "Man Of The World - Reflections On Peter Green" which contained 15 selections from the "Rattlesnake Guitar" 2CD set. The Audio Fidelity album was mastered by Steve Hoffman for the hybrid SACD format (meaning it will play on a conventional CD player) - and included Luther's take of "Crying Won't Bring You Back". Note that the album was also available as a 14 track LP edition (cat #: Audio Fidelity AFLP011) but WITHOUT Luther's contribution.

Viceroy Music distributed two promo only radio sampler CD singles as a taster for the forthcoming 2CD set in 1995. Luther Grosvenor was the only artist to feature on both! The CDs came without covers, but the discs themselves had a nice 'rattlesnake design'.
